The Criminal Law Department here at Jeary and Lewis provides advice and representation to Clients in Wiltshire and the surrounding area, in relation to all types of alleged criminal offences and also in relation to motoring matters.
We are able to provide representation to Clients from the very start of a case in the police station, and also throughout the court proceedings that may follow the police investigation. We have a highly experienced team of Criminal Defence Solicitors and we pride ourselves on our attention to detail and Client care.
All Clients who are arrested or who are invited to attend the police station for an interview under caution are legally entitled to free and independent legal advice. We would always recommend that a person obtains representation from a Solicitor at any stage of their case, but particularly from the very start of the case at the police station. We are able to offer Clients free and independent legal advice under the Legal Aid Scheme and we have been doing so for over 30 years.
Where a Client is required to attend Court, they will either be charged with an offence whilst at the police station, or they will receive a postal requisition sent to their last known address which will contain the charge(s). Legal Aid is also often available to cover court proceedings in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Court. It is vitally important that a person charged with offences seeks legal advice as soon as they become aware of the court proceedings, to ensure that an application for Legal Aid is made in time for the first Hearing and to enable their case to be fully prepared beforehand.
We offer a free half an hour appointment to all new Clients. If you require advice about an alleged criminal offence, you can contact our experienced team by telephone or by email to make an appointment. If you require urgent representation in the police station for yourself or for a friend or relative, we have a 24-hour emergency police station number to ensure that one of our team is available when you need us. We are an incredibly approachable and proactive team; please do not hesitate to get in touch if you require assistance with your case, we will always be happy to help you.
